Cat Vaccination Guide
Vaccines protect cats from deadly diseases. Core vaccines (FVRCP and rabies) are essential for ALL cats. Non-core vaccines (FeLV, Bordetella) depend on lifestyle and risk factors. Our calculator generates a personalized schedule based on your cat's age and environment.
Core Vaccines (All Cats Need)
- FVRCP: Protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis (herpes), calicivirus, and panleukopenia (feline distemper). Series of 3-4 doses starting at 6-8 weeks, then booster every 3 years.
- Rabies: Required by law in most areas. Fatal disease transmissible to humans. First dose at 12-16 weeks, booster in 1 year, then every 1-3 years depending on vaccine type and local laws.
Non-Core Vaccines (Based on Risk)
- FeLV (Feline Leukemia): Recommended for outdoor cats and multi-cat households. Two doses 3-4 weeks apart, then annual boosters.
- Bordetella: Only for cats in shelters, boarding facilities, or multi-cat environments with respiratory disease outbreaks.
